Meet Our Attorneys

Billy W. Sherrow

Billy W. Sherrow is a native of Lancaster, Garrard County, Kentucky. He graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 1965, with a degree in accounting and from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1972 and has been practicing in Lexington, since that time. He was the managing member of the firm of Geralds, Moloney & Jones until 2003, when he became a founding member of Sherrow, Schrader & Sutherland, PSC. The name was changed to Sherrow, Sutherland & Associates, PSC, in January, 2007, when John P. Schrader was elected to the bench as a circuit judge. For the last twenty years, he has concentrated his practice in the area of real estate and closes several hundred residential and commercial loans each year. The firm’s real estate department is familiar with all forms of secondary market loans, including FHA, VA and conventional,  and is approved by most major lenders as well as local banks.  He has also acted as local counsel and written title insurance policies for several multi-million dollar commercial transactions in the Lexington area.  He represents the Lexington-Bluegrass Association of Realtors and has spoken at numerous continuing legal education seminars on the subject of titles and title insurance issues.   He is member of the Board of Directors of The Southland Association and enjoys playing golf and listening to and playing bluegrass music.


Charles J. Sutherland, Jr.

Charles J. Sutherland, Jr., was born in Lexington, Kentucky, but  graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in Alabama. He graduated in 1974 from Centre College, Danville, Kentucky, with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics where he was Phi Beta Kappa, and participated on both the varsity basketball and golf teams. He attended the University of Kentucky, College of Law, where he was a member of the Law Review and graduated with a Juris Doctor in1977.  He joined the firm of Rouse, Collins & Fugazzi, PSC in 1978, and in 1981, he was a partner in the firm of Collins & Sutherland PSC. He was a sole practitioner for thirteen years before joining Sherrow, Schrader & Sutherland, PSC in 2003. His practice over the past 29 years has focused primarily in the area of real estate law. He is an authorized title agent for Old Republic Title and Commonwealth Land Title and has closed more than 10,000.00 secondary market mortgage loans in addition to countless other equity lines, construction loans, and cash closings. He has done title work for Lexington Fayette Urban County Government for more than fifteen years. He is the primary closing attorney for Lanco Mortgage, Inc. of Lexington, Kentucky, and is approved by numerous secondary market lenders including National City Mortgage Co., JP Chase Bank, GMAC Mortgage, Suntrust Mortgage, Countrywide Mortgage, Kentucky Housing Corporation, Washington Mutual Bank, U.S. Bank, Wells Fargo Home Mortgages, Cendant Mortgage Services, and sever others. His proudest accomplishment is being the father of three wonderful daughters, Christi (22), Kate (19), and Shelby (16). He is a member of Southland Christian Church, and enjoys running and golf.


Stephen L. Marshall

Stephen Marshall graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1996, magna cum laude, with a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education (History and Political Science). He received his J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 2003. While there, he served as an Articles Editor of the Kentucky Law Journal and as Chairman of College of Law Honor Council. In the Spring of 2002, his Note, When May a Sate Require Teaching Alternatives to the Theory of Evolution? Intelligent Design as a Test Case was published in Volume 90 of the Kentucky Law Journal, and was chosen for the Stoll, Keenon & Park Writing Award as the best student Note of the Class of 2003. Stephen also received the CALI Award for being the top Litigation Skills student in the Fall 2002, and the Best Oral Argument Award for the McReynolds Writing Club in Spring 2001. Stephen was admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and in United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky in 2003.  Stephen and other members of the firm represent the Lexington Apartment Association and handle numerous landlord tenant matters for many of the Lexington area apartment complexes


Jimmie G. Orr, Jr.

Jimmie is a 1980 graduate of the University of Kentucky, and a 1994 graduate of the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville. He is a member ofthe Brandeis Honor Society, having been recognized as placing in the top 5% of his class. He has practiced law for over 12 years and has experience with a very broad range of lega1 issues. His current practice involves many areas of the law and includes family law, adoption law, consumer bankruptcy law (debtors and creditors), personal injury law, estate planning law, administrative disability law (Social Security and Veteran's Administration), real estate law and general litigation. Jimmie is blessed to have been married to the former Lynn Mollencop for the last 21 years, and to be the father of his 6 year old adopted daughter, Molly, a native of Guatemala. Jimmie likes to cook and garden.
